How I Use This Page
This page is my personal sentence pattern library. When I do not know how to turn a Chinese thought into natural English, I can look for the intention first, then choose a sentence pattern.
表达“我一直在做某事”
Use these patterns when something started in the past and is still continuing now.
- I have been trying to…
- I have been working on…
- I have been learning how to…
Example:
- I have been trying to improve my English writing.
- I have been working on my personal blog.
表达“我意识到 / 我发现”
- I realized that…
- I found that…
- It occurred to me that…
Example:
- I realized that writing is also a way of thinking.
表达“对我来说很难”
- It is difficult for me to…
- I find it hard to…
- The hardest part is…
Example:
- I find it hard to choose the right sentence pattern.
表达“这让我……”
- This makes me…
- This allows me to…
- This helps me…
Example:
- This helps me turn input into output.
表达“据说 / 人们认为”
- It is said that…
- People say that…
- It is widely believed that…
Example:
- It is widely believed that consistency matters more than talent.
